Current Mutual Aid Projects

These are the current mutual aid projects I'm working on in Decatur, Illinois. As this group grows, I'll be adding more. If you have a mutual aid project that you'd like my help with, please email me. I'm always looking for ways to help my neighbors!

Harm Reduction Info Distribution

With everything that's happening within the world, there are numerous causes for which information needs distributed. The Rising Phoenix is working diligently to distribute this information for the good of all involved.

If you find yourself in need of such resources, check out this list. It also contains ethical businesses in our area.

Digital Mutual Aid Group

This Facebook group is for Decatur IL residents to post their needs/offers.

 Little Free Library (Online Edition)

Here you will find a variety of free books (a.k.a. PDF files). These books are in the public domain. We believe that education is power and as such you may find some books that people have tried to ban. If you believe in such bans, this library is probably not for you. Otherwise, please enjoy!

(If you find a book you'd like to add, please email me the PDF file!)

 Little Free Libraries

Little Free Libraries provide free books in communities where access is limited due to fees or transportation issues. They operate on a "take a book, leave a book" system, but not everyone can donate, leaving fewer books available. The library stewards often have to restock them.

That’s where we help! We collect and donate books. We also collect funds to buy affordable books for them. (We can send you a picture of the books we buy and place in the library so you see the impact you make. Since this is a mutual aid project, we cannot give you anything for your taxes.)

Decatur Period Pride: Breaking the Stigma

Join us in supporting women in need throughout the month of June! Your donations of pads, tampons, or liners will provide dignity and comfort to clients of New Vision Food Bank and Dove Domestic Violence Shelter. With 1 in 4 women struggling to afford period products, your contribution—whether dropped off at KC Finds (2809 N. Main St, Decatur), or ordered via our Amazon Wishlist—directly fights period poverty in our community. Let's work together to help ensure no woman in Decatur goes without these essential supplies.

Have some spare cash and extra room?

Consider purchasing some of these items for when prices increase due to tariffs. Set them aside somewhere in your home to share with your neighbors who will be in need because they didn't have the means to buy these items right now.
